Oakland police commission moves to appoint Omar Farmer to a vacant seat in apparent violation of sunshine laws, after the City Council previously rejected Farmer’s request for reappointment – twice.
It seems to me that procedural bickering is overtaking common sense. Keep your eyes on the ball, everyone! The real problem is lack of police officers, isn’t it?
Turmoil on the police commission has been going on for years, not months. Meanwhile, we live in one of nation’s most dangerous cities. What a coinkydink.
Thank you Alex and Oakland Report. It is time for Oakland to stop playing games with appointments. Omar Farmer has no business being on the Police Commission. The violation of the Brown Act and other violations are crucial. Infact, we should get rid of the Police Commission and replace it with an advisory commission. Btw, Councilmembers Unger, Jenkins & Houston: what’s so funny? (That spelling “it’s” with an apostrophe, as shown, makes no sense?)

Alex Montana is a frequent contributor to the Oakland Report. Is there a bio somewhere so that we could better understand where's he's coming from?
100% agree with this.
Sonjiv Honda is missed.. I can almost hear him citing the Brown Act; i.e.,
Ralph M. Brown Act (Gov. Code § 54950-54963) is California’s sunshine law.
