As the article states, the Coalition for Police Accountability sent a letter to the City Council and the selection panel on December 15 that said in its opening paragraph, “I am writing on behalf of the Coalition for Police Accountability to inform you that the submission of the slate of proposed
police commissioners Ricardo Garcia-Acosta and Omar Farmer was fatally flawed because the Selection Panel did not do a background check in conjunction with the latest submission.”

I do wish news outlets - and politicians - would stop using the euphemism “parcel” tax. It’s a property tax. Plain & simple.
The Coalition for Police Accountability did not urge the Selection Panel to do anything but preserve their independence from political pressure.
