Why do I feel like this deal is either never going to happen, or will become the biggest quagmire of non-payments and no development?

Anyone familar with that area knows that ground contamination was always one of the elephants in the living room. Why is it just coming up now publicly?

Likewise for the base in Alameda right across the canal when they opened it up for private property sale and leases.

Excellent coverage - thank you! Seems like this Coliseum project will be followed more closely than past episodes! Let's hope that Ray and his people get the full Hawthorne Effect boost that Oakland deserves. Oakland has such potential, it's bizarre that they've made it seem so nasty.

That’s great news to hear selling the Coliseum property will solve the unhoused issues and related public health challenges in East Oakland. I guess I never realized that.

I appreciate that District 7 council representative Ken Houston wants to transform the Hegenberger corridor into a world class destination.

Former representative Larry Reid spent decades attracting businesses to the area only to see the Sheng Thao bloc (Rebecca Kaplan, Carroll Fife, Nikki Fortunato Bas) trash it by not voting for more resources to the area (Larry's daughter, Treva, pleaded with the council to vote in favor when she was D7 council rep at the time because crime was pervasive and the businesses were starting to suffer).

When In-N-Out decided to close, Rebecca Kaplan tweeted of an Oakland cafe (in another neighborhood) that served good burgers - as if she didnt give a fig about In-N-Out.

The Oakland In-N-Out had at least 95 employees, was profitable, and paid tons in taxes to the city. I guess the economics didnt matter to Rebecca because her ideology doesnt accept businesses like In-N-Out.

Once again, fuck Rebecca Kaplan and the Sheng Thao bloc.

Disclaimer : I try my best to not use profanity but it is very difficult because of the clowns we have in Oakland city hall and council chambers.

Nate mentions the return of the Raiders to Oakland but didnt elaborate further.

While the return of the Raiders was a boost for the fans and city pride, the deal was terrible because it kept Oakland on the hook (to the Raider's advantage). That is one reason why former mayor Libby Schaaf made sure to not accept another bad deal for Oakland when Mark Davis wanted a new stadium.
