Transportation director Josh Rowan responds to media stories that named him as a whistleblower using records the city provided, which he alleges violated whistleblower protection laws
Oaklandside has been propaganda hell bent on protecting our corrupt administration since they arrived in 2020, along with tens of millions of dark $ funding for local progressives, funneled through Quinn Delaney and Lateefah Simon.

The Oaklandside stands in the way of residents and small businesses that want an efficient city hall that serves everyone. As we know, city hall and Barbara Lee serve their preferred unions, non-profits, and politically aligned organizations *at* the expense of residents and small businesses.
I am fortunate that I dont see members of that untrustworthy propaganda outfit in my outings often because if I did, I would have a hard time keeping my stomach from expunging its contents.
Putting aside Josh Rowan's claims of being pressured to place contracts with particular vendors, one claim that does stand out as patently false is that he runs a clean operation.
Many times I have seen myself Streets crews pretending to do road cleaning along Grizzly Peak and Skyline, all the while ignoring the real hazards of fallen trees and stumps.
They just took several weeks to replace a conduit across Claremont below Grizzly and did a poor job of patching the road while having to drive past a couch asnd cushions and other detritus that have bern there for months.
And somehow they only have time to do these jobs with large crews sitting in their trucks on their phones, often on weekend mornings.
Plus the repaving, at least in our area, has included streets that didn't need it while ignoring adjacent streets that are hazardous to pedestrians and vehicles alike.
OakDOT may have a jazzy nsme but they never address real road hazards, failing terms, potholes, etc that are plain to see.
So, perhaps Josh Rowan was indeed pressured, but don't tell me he knows what his department really does.

If you see workers not honoring their commitments to the job, please take photos and send them to the proper agencies and contacts. I see this a lot in NextDoor.
For the record, I believe Josh Rowan and his statements are backed by his actions. I think Oakland is very lucky to have him on board.
I have tried 311 in the past and found it to be pretty useless. Reports of potholes have been either ignored or dismissed with excuses about resources.
A couple of years ago a Berkeley road crew came through thinking this was Berkeley and they cheerfully patched some holes that 311 had only filled with excuses.
No, I have not reported street crew antics or road paving on unneeded streets to anyone.
I have tried in the past to get OFD to address the ridiculous 30 ft clearance and other suggestions in the vegetation inspection info only to be again met with indifference and excuses.
I will see if I can find Roman's email. I will be astonished if anything comes of the effort.
I just think that if he were actually a real supervisor, he would drive the streets and could see for himself the neglect his department is responsible for.
